BAVOVNA is a new collection of unique lamps from MAKHNO studio that opens up a new collection and symbolizes the Ukrainian spirit, a thirst for victory that breaks all obstacles and gives strength to move on.
BAVOVNA is first of all a story about lies, which surrounds us since February 24, but it didn’t tout – vice versa this crucial situation has awakened the emotional explosion inside. BAVOVNA is probably one of the most unusual collections of MAKHNO studio, as it was created in the same non-standard times.
The BAVOVNA collection is an extremely important and personal project for the studio because it is a creative explosion of Serhiy and MAKHNO studio designers. The collection is a symbol of the team’s implacability, which, even in extremely difficult circumstances, continues to work, and even more – to create new products that will remain as a memory of war and of the fact that despite all the problems, we always have to strive for brand-new achievements, which are changing the world around.
The collection consists of four lamps – Ba, Vov, Na, and Boom. This series shows the process of forming the flame inside the ceramic shell, which resembles the form of a cotton box. Metaphorically, it symbolizes the Ukrainian nation and each of us, showing the external and internal power to defeat. BAVOVNA is a symbol of victory of Ukraine.
The lamps are made of ceramic – the essential material of MAKHNO studio; inside there is gold and copper finishing, which imitates the internal fire the second before the explosion. The lamps are made in natural colour, which resembles a range of colours of explosions – from natural white, associated with haze, to dark brown – the colour of burning and destruction.
Lamps from the BAVOVNA collection will not only be a visually impressive element of your interior, but also a reminder and memory that the desire for victory reduces everything on its way.
A part of the sales and proceeds will be reverted to the charity foundation of Serhiy Prytula and its namesake project.
MAKHNO studio was founded in 2003 by architect, ceramist, and collector Serhii Makhno. MAKHNO studio is the studio of contemporary Ukrainian architecture, interior design, and ceramics that rethink Ukrainian traditions, cultural phenomena, and forces of nature.
